Family owned and operated, Sierra Vista helped pioneer the El Dorado wine reemergence planting our first vineyard in 1974 and making our first wine in 1977. We were the first to plant Rhone varieties in the foothills. In the late 90's we were one of the first in El Dorado County to install a solar system to help reduce the energy required from the grid. We have been practicing sustainable farming since before the phrase was adopted and practice "green" where ever we can. Sierra Vista vineyards are at 2800+ foot elevation and therefore is in a cool growing region with an average daytime temperature in the mid 80s and seldom exceeding 100 degrees. We make Rhone style wines as well as traditional Chardonnay, Fume Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon , Zinfandel and Merlot.
