Founded in 1977 by Leon and Shirley Sobon and their six children. Started in a converted garage, the winery has grown with demand. Its rock faced facilities are cut into the side of the hill and offer views of the surrounding areas.
Description of Vineyards
The Sobon family sustainably farms 160 acres of grapes, walnuts, prunes and olives. Rows of grapes surround the winery building, which sits at the top of a beautiful hill.
After tasting, and strolling through the modern art at the Shenandoah Gallery, rest and enjoy a snack in the new covered picnic area and enjoy the exhillirating view of acres of rolling hills and vineyards. In the Fall, visitors can see the grapes being gathered and processed. Throughout the season, you may see the winemaker and workers filling wine barrels, testing the wines or working with the wines throughout the day. Raise your glass, and say Hi! About the Winemakers
Paul Sobon is the second generation of the Sobon family to lead the winemaking team. He has been in the wine industry since 1977 when the family founded Shenandoah Vineyards. Paul’s previous experience in Australia and Bordeaux, France; his on the job training; and his "can-do" attitude makes him extremely well qualified for the position.
Natural winemaking is our goal, with special care given to every barrel and every bottle. We strive to produce the highest quality wine possible and to fully express the true flavors and aromas of each grape variety and the soil from which they are grown Our Exclusive Wines
