Description of Vineyards

Press Release - July 28, 2006:

CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR NAMES SPINETTA FAMILY VINEYARDS TO THE CALIFORNIA AGRICULTURE HERITAGE CLUB

The California Exposition and State Fair announced today that Spinetta Family Vineyards has been inducted into the prestigious California Agricultural Heritage Club, an honor reserved for California agricultural enterprises that have been in operation for one hundred years or more. Spinetta Family Vineyards has been recognized for 150 years of business.

The California Agricultural Heritage Club originated in the 1940s and recognizes families, farms, ranches, and agribusiness operations that have maintained a financial responsibility in agriculture for at least half a century. The California State Fair is the sanctioned body that holds these records and facilitates the recognition process.

"The California Agricultural Heritage Club is a wonderful way to recognize our state’s agricultural history. I’m glad that our state fair has maintained this tradition for nearly sixty years," said Charles Spinetta, owner of Spinetta Family Vineyards.

Spinetta continued by explaining his family’s background in agriculture. "My family has been farming in Amador County for over 150 years on my mother’s side and over 130 years on my father’s side. We are quite proud that both sides of my family are early agricultural pioneers in Amador County. Today, my wife and I operate our vineyards and winery with lots of help from our three sons."

Spinetta’s maternal great great grandfather started his farm and agricultural business in the Clinton area during 1852, and his paternal grandfather started his agricultural career in the Clinton area circa 1871. Spinetta established his farm in Shenandoah Valley in 1975 and sold his first bottle of wine during 1984. The family plans to expand their vineyards over the next several years.

Tour Information

Our Exclusive Wines

All of our wines are available only in our tasting room. Barbera is a fine medium bodied Italian wine. Pleasant textures and aromas balance the fruit's natural acidity. Heritage Red is a red table wine with a spicy, soft body. An old family recipe made with -- no, we won't tell. Petite Sirah is dark and elegant with smooth, supple flavors. Primitivo is a rarer varietal in the Zinfandel family. This vintage is lively and fruitful, bound for a rich dinner for two. Zinfandel has subtle aromas mixing with the fruit's latent spices. A tender wine with a mouth full of flavor. "Fun and Yummy!" Chenin Blanc balances apple, light grapefruit, pear cider, and luscious peach essences. A premium White Zinfandel that no one else can match. Flavors of melon and dried mango, boquet of a spring flower garden. Zinetta is the first sweet red zin. It's "fun and yummy" red wine. Pomegranates, strawberries, cranberries. The floral Black Muscat generates a stir at the tasting bar. Flavors of rosewater and blackberry. Orange Muscat is for sipping in front of a roaring fireplace. Pour a glass and snuggle. All wines are made from Estate Vines grown on Steiner Road in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Amador County, California.

Additional Information

Wildlife art is an ancient artform shared by all our world's cultures. We preserve this heritage in the modern age. Visit, enjoy a glass of wine, and view hundreds of pieces of artwork in the 3,000 square foot gallery. Glimpse some original paintings, limited edition prints, wood and soapstone sculpture, raku ceramics, and multimedia in the online gallery / tasting room tour.

Joe Garcia and Federal Duck Stamp Winner Sherrie Russell Meline created the wildlife paintings of the Charles Spinetta Winery Label Series.

Need something custom framed? Laura can do it. Many prints shown in the gallery are available shrink wrapped. Some include stamps, remarques, and other elements. You will be inspired by these colorful, collectible works of art when you visit - you may even take one home.
