Curiosities
Sauvignon blanc wasn't a major player in California until the late 1960s, when Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi restyled into a leaner, crisper wine and gave it a new name, Fume Blanc, which he calculated would be easier for Americans to pronounce.
