Flavor

The white wine most representative of place, riesling is fresh and fruity, its apple and peach flavors customarily bolstered with refreshing mineral notes.

Body

Riesling is adaptable, ranging from dry and lean to lusciously sweet and fat, but the model rising in popularity is a table-friendly version with little or no residual sugar.

At the table, pour it with...

Very adaptable, with dry and lean styles fitting for fish, shellfish, and lighter poultry, veal and pork dshes, off-dry styles best with spicy and smoky dishes, and meats gussied up with sweet glazes and fruit. Save the richly sweet styles to sip on their own.

Curiosities

Riesling is believed native to the Rhine Valley of Germany, where it's been grown since at least the 15th century, and possibly as early as the days of the Roman Empire.
