Curiosities
Virtually every barbera vineyard in the foothills is based on cuttings from Dick Cooper's ranch in Shenandoah Valley; his father first cultivated barbera in the 1970s based on advice from Sacramento grocer Darrell Corti, who wrote the name of the grape on a dollar bill when the elder Cooper said he'd never heard of it.
